Interview with AMPARO FERNÁNDEZ

Amparo Fernández, a leading and renowned professional in the industry, presents AKUA, an innovative collection made up of 14 strikingly realistic images created entirely with artificial intelligence.

This project, developed in collaboration with acclaimed photographer and AI expert Rebeca Saray, merges digital art and cutting-edge technology, incorporating real images as an essential layer of the creative process.
AKUA is a testament to the power of collaboration between artistic talent and new digital tools. We spoke with Amparo about this exciting new creative phase.

You’re presenting your latest collection, AKUA, created entirely with AI alongside photographer and AI expert Rebeca Saray. What was the experience like?

It’s been an experience that, from the very beginning, stirred a mix of excitement and vertigo. But I always say that any step outside our comfort zone brings immense value—both personally and professionally.

What inspired you to innovate and dive into the world of AI-generated collections?

I’d say my relentless curiosity and drive to evolve with the times is what defines me most. When I saw major competitions introducing AI as a category, I knew immediately that I had to be part of it.

What do you think artificial intelligence can bring to hair collections?

AI can bring a new creative and visual dimension to hair collections. It allows us to explore styles, textures, and colors that can inspire future trends. It also offers a tool for instant transformation—without the need for complex chemical or physical processes.

Do you believe AI can coexist with the artisanal work of the salon, or are they separate worlds?

AI will never replace the artist’s hand, but it can definitely help enhance our vision.

What was the creative process behind AKUA like?

The starting point was the essential accessory: the cut and the color. From there, we began adding layers of expression—feathered-effect finishes where rigidity fades and movement comes to life; wet-glow looks, glossy finishes, and wet hair effects… Then, like a piece of art revealed layer by layer, came makeup, nails, styling, jewelry… until each image reflected the visual harmony we envisioned.

What would you say to other professionals in the industry who are curious about these new tools but don’t know where to start?

Do it with passion and all the excitement in the world. Dare to explore, learn, and prepare yourself without fear. This path rewards those who truly commit. It captivated me from the start, and I know it can do the same for anyone willing to take the leap.
